The search is over for the lead role in Will Gluck's (Easy A) adaption of the hit broadway musical, already brought to the big screen in 1982 (which was played till the VHS copy actually broke in my house growing up), with the announcement that Quvenzhané Wallis, who at nine became the youngest person to be nominated for an Oscar for Beasts Of The Southern Wild at this years ceremony, has been cast in the lead role. This new version will be be produced by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jay Z (amongst many others). In fact the Smith's daughter, Willow, was rumoured for the part before it went to Wallis. It's safe to say this is going to be a bit different than we've seen before, with the script, originally written by Emma Thompson (THE Emma Thompson) and Aline Brosh McKenna, undergoing a polish by Gluck.
The film goes in front of the cameras later this year, with it's eye on holiday 2014 release date.
