Peter Dinklage Joins Christian Bale For Old-School Adventure Yarn

The cast of the Deep Blue Good-By just keeps getting better and better. Already on board the movie were Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike, and now we're hearing they'll be joined by Peter Dinklage and Nicola Peltz.

The Deep Blue Good-By is the first movie centred on the character of Travis McGee, a cross between Indiana Jones and Nathan Drake, who will be played by Bale. McGee is a "salvage expert" that lives on a house boat and stays clear of anything that leaves a paper trail. He only works for cash and has one rule; he will recover anything that was taken from you as long as he can keep half.

Dinklage joins the cast as a sidekick of sorts, a maths expert that helps McGee from time to time, while it's still unclear who Pike will play. McGee will be re-imagined as a grizzled army vet hot on the trail of some stolen sapphires. The movie, which sounds like a fucking blast I might add, is being directed by James Mangold and hits cinemas next year.

If it's a success, there are a whole host of Travis McGee novels from which to mine material. Given that we're no closer to a new Indiana Jones movie, this could fill a gap in the market for some old-school action / adventure, and give us a side to Bale we haven't seen before if there's a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek comedy thrown in.
