Ant-Man and The Wasp to be rated NC-17

Shit, fuck, cunt, slut bag. All words you wouldn't generally hear in a Marvel Studios movie, with an obvious exception or two, just so Steve Rodgers can have a moan. According to the wonderfully named Ant-Man and The Wasp director, (sarcasm is a skill we've acquired over the years) Peyton Reed, the movie is going for an NC-17 rating. So bring on the copious amounts of swearing, dismemberment and gratuitous nudity. YAWN!

For those unfamiliar with such ratings NC-17 basically means No One 17 and Under will be admitted to the movie.  Previous NC-17 movies include the likes of American Pie, Clerks, Fight Club and many, many others.

It's a strange move from Marvel Studios. In one sense, it's not, as Deadpool has pulled in over half a billion dollars worldwide. And while Deadpool came from Marvel (and Fox) it wasn't a Marvel Studios production, who as we know, have been quite removed from a full on swear festival topped off with tits, asses and head explosions.

Regardless whether or not Ant-Man's source material lends itself to a more adult tone, it all seems to be nothing but an attempt at a cash in on Deadpool's success and for the younger Ant-Man fans it certainly alienates them and their parents instantly. Is there any justification for an NC-17 rating? I'd love to hear it, but I genuinely can't, for the life of me think, why it needs this. Until we hear otherwise, and I doubt we will, this is nothing but a fiscal move. In my book, and based on what we've seen over the years ever since Downey put on a tin can suit, this is a huge shift that will bring no benefits to the MCU.

Don't get me wrong,  I love nudity, violence and swearing as much as the next person, but trying to crowbar it into a movie just for the hell of it will result in undoing the great work Marvel Studios have done for years!
