Justice League Will No Longer Be Split Across Two Movies

Today was a big day for DC Comics fans, with Warner Bros dropping new details about the upcoming team up of the iconic comic characters, namely a pretty neat old school logo, a look at a fresh new Batmobile, and a new synopsis, giving us a taste of what is in store:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.  Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.  But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions

On top of that, Empire are reporting that the movie will no longer be part one of a bigger story, being its own stand alone movie. As of now, the second Justice League movie announced for 2019 is still going ahead, but it's looking likely it could be a sequel telling a separate story.

There's no way of knowing for certain, but this change of direction could very well have been brought about the poorer than wanted reception to Batman v Superman. However, the next piece of news can definitely be related to this, with JoBlo revealing that Justice League will feature a '180 turn' in regards to tone, being a more fun ensemble piece as opposed to the door superhero smackdown we got before.

This was what a lot of people were expecting to happen when comic book legend Geoff Johns was named head of DC Films. The site also mentioned some more details regarding the story, confirming that Steppenwolf, last seen in the deleted scene from the Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition, will indeed be the big bad, and that the bulk of the action revolving around the team searching for three alien artefacts, Mother Boxes, that intergalactic despot Darkseid needs for his nefarious ends.

Superman fans may have to wait however, as Supes won't be appearing from the very beginning for obvious reasons, but Snyder says he will turn up, but just not from the opening shot. It's almost like the Man of Steel has a journey to get to the Justice League.
