Is A Big Lebowski Spin-Off Coming Our Way?

Since The Big Lebowski hit the big screen in 1998, John Turtorro has been chomping at the bit to see the story of his character, bowling enthusiast/“pederast” Jesus Quintana, continued in some form or another. Unfortunately, the film’s writers/director’s Joel and Ethan Cohen have made known, quite publicly, that they know interest in the project. But now it seems Turtorro has taken matters into his own hands. According to Birth. Movies. Death, his latest directorial effort Going Places, a remake of 1974’s Gerard Depadieu starring French sex farce La Valseuses, is actually a Big Lebowski spin-off, and will see him don Jesus’ hair net and bowling shirt once more. The Cohen Brothers seem to have no creative input into the project, as it seems to be something Turtorro, also handling script duties, decided to do off his own back. Seeing as they also have nothing to do with the Fargo t.v. series, this seems to be something they have no problem with.

The movie, currently a week or two into production in New York State, reveals around two petty thieves, Turtorro’s Jesus and Bobby Canavale’s Petey, who compete to give a woman (Audrey Tatou) her first orgasm. The movie also stars Susan Sarandon as an ex-con fresh out of prison. Going Places is currently without a distributor, but if it does indeed turn out to be the return go Jesus Quintana, that will change very soon.
