Jude Law Is The New Dumbledore!!!

With J.K. Rowling delving deeper into the history of her Wizarding World with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it was only a matter of time before familiar faces would turn up, albeit younger than we are used to. Watching the first movie, and the numerous references to him, we knew young Albus Dumbledore was coming our way, but it turns out he’s arriving faster than we expected, with the still unnamed Fantastic Beasts 2 casting Jude Law to play everyone’s favourite Hogwarts headmaster in his formative years. The proposed five movie series will evolve, much like the Harry Potter movies did, into something a bit darker than chasing mythical beasts through 1920’s New York, with a classic battle between good and evil, and Dumbledore is a huge part of that. So having a big name like Law attached to the role, will definitely draw the crowds.

While not the first choice I would have though of, there’s no denying the talent Law possesses, and the back story between him and Johnny Depp’s Gellert Grindelwald will provide plenty of narrative fat for him to chew on. Question is, with Law being a pretty big name, and Dumble door’s importance in the story, will we see Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander take a back seat to proceedings? Warner Bros. have already said that the series isn’t really about Scamander, but we’ll see how much smaller his role will be when Fantastic Beasts hits our screens on November 16th 2018.
