Since he brought us the absolutely fantastic District 9, you can expect anticipation to be high for director Neil Blomkamp's newest sci-fi property Elysium. Originally slated for a March 2013 release date, it is now taking the August 2013 slot in the U.S., recently vacated by the Robocop remake. This new prime summer spot will definitely ensure plenty of money will be coming its way. There hasn't been much in the way of footage, none actually, but we do have a new picture from the movie showing Matt Damon sporting one hell of giant gun/ exo-skeleton combo.
The film also stars Sharlto Copely, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Jodie Foster
Synopsis: In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds
Released: 9th August 2013 (U.S.)/ 20th September 2013 (U.K./IRL)
