Michael B. Jordan Joins Black Panther

Following the character’s fantastic debut in Captain America: Civil War, it’s being all go for the Black Panther solo film as of late. Following on form that earlier announcement that Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to join the MCU Phase Three installment as love interest to Chadwick Boseman’s super powered royal. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan has joined the cast, teaming up once more with his Creed and Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler, in what the publication believes to be a villainous role (possibly teaming up with Andy Serkis’ Klaw, who we all assume to be playing a part after his appearance in Age of Ultron). Who it could be is anyone’s guess, but I think it’s fair we can rule out Man-Ape, a villain whose name pretty much says all you need to know. My guess is Erik Killmonger, an exiled Wakandan with an intense hatred for Black Panther. Of course, as always, this is just speculation.

Jordan is of course no stranger to super heroes, having played Johnny Storm in Josh Trank’s utterly disappointing Fantastic Four reboot, though he managed to escape the backlash against the movie unscathed, being the most solid part of that movie. The prospect of Jordan joining the MCU, not to mention once again teaming with Cooler who led him to a career best performance in Creed, is one turn of events we should be excited by.

Black Panther is set for release February 2nd 2016.
